Shared my experience in creating a Reader-Response Workshop at a conference in Paris, France.
In the early '90s, I began developing my Reader-Response Workshop in my classroom at Jakarta International School. Here are my students sharing their responses to self-selected texts.
By 2006, I had earned my Master's degree in teaching, completed Lindamood Bell training, heard Stephen Krashen speak, taught in Title I Reading middle school classrooms, and headed back overseas. The American School of Bombay is a one-to-one laptop school. Here, I expanded the RRW to a virtual classroom environment where students could access lessons, materials, and directions at any time. They could then respond and interact with peers and the instructor (myself) on-line via discussion boards, journals, and individual messages.
